I am proud to be a candidate for Volusia County School Board, District 1. As a wife, a mother of four, and a West Volusia resident for the past 17 years, I have experienced firsthand the impact our district's decisions have on students, parents, teachers, and taxpayers.
Our school district manages a massive $1.3 billion budget, yet we are consistently facing operating deficits and bureaucratic hurdles. We cannot afford business as usual. As a private-sector executive, nonprofit president, and local business owner, I am the only independent candidate in this race bringing outside executive experience to the table. We need a School Board that knows how to audit a budget, eliminate waste, and ensure every single tax dollar is spent exactly where it belongs: inside the classroom.
My Priorities for District 1

Open the Books: Mandate clear, line-item budgeting to end multi-million dollar deficits and bring total financial transparency to Volusia County taxpayers.

Let Teachers Teach: Restore classroom autonomy, reduce unnecessary administrative burdens, and provide competitive pay to retain our best educators.

Back to Basics: Focus on strong academic fundamentals, including phonics-based literacy, core mathematics, civics, and cursive writing, to prepare students for real-world success.

Restore Discipline: Ensure safe, orderly learning environments where teachers are supported and students can learn without constant behavioral disruptions

I believe every child deserves a strong educational foundation, every teacher deserves professional respect, and every family deserves total transparency from their elected officials. Together, we can build a school system that prepares students not only for graduation, but for success in life, while ensuring every decision remains focused on what is best for the children of Volusia County.
